Municipal Court

Buena Vista Municipal Court hears cases involving alleged misdemeanor Municipal Code violations (such as harassment and disorderly conduct) and traffic infractions (moving violations that occur within town limits). All felony cases and state traffic infractions not addressed in Buena Vista’s Municipal Code are referred to the Chaffee County Combined Court in Salida.

Municipal Court is held on the fourth Wednesday of each month at 2:00 pm in the Pinon Room at the Community Center, located at 715 E Main Street. The Municipal Court office is located in the Police Department building, 713 E Main Street. Please call Court Clerk Judy Nyberg at 719-395-8654 during regular business hours with any questions.

Consult your citation or summons for information about your court date.

Fines

You have the option of either paying the designated fine or going to court to contest the charge. If you choose to pay the fine, please send a check by mail, or you may pay with a check, cash or credit in person at the BV Police Department Buiding. You may also pay over the phone by credit card. Please note that credit card transactions are charged a 3.5% processing fee.
