Update on COVID-19 (Coronavirus)

Town Hall, the Police Department, and the Community Center are open on a limited basis. The Public Works building will remain closed except by appointment through at least June 30, 2021.

If you have not been vaccinated, masks are required for entry into any public indoor space, including all Town facilities. 

Town Hall will be open Monday – Friday, 8:00am – 5:00pm, for the following purposes only:

  • To make a cash or credit/debit card payment on a water bill or Town fee/invoice.
  • To get a document notarized.
  • To purchase burial sites at Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
  • To drop off paperwork that cannot easily be mailed in (plats, building plans, etc.).
    (By appointment – call Doug Tart at 719-581-1028 or Mark Doering at 719-581-1025 to schedule)

The Police Department will be open Monday – Friday, 8:00am – 4:30pm for the following purpose only:

  • To make a cash or credit/debit card payment on a traffic ticket or municipal court fine.

The Community Center is closed to the public but private reservations are available for groups under 20 people in the Aspen Room, and groups under 40 people in the Pinon Room with social distancing requirements.

The public is asked to conduct all other types of business by phone or online.

Water payments will continue to be accepted by mail, by bank draft, in the drop box outside Town Hall, via our automated telephone system (1-833-431-1749; a $1.25 fee applies), and via the Town website (go to https://www.buenavistaco.gov/ and scroll down to “Water Bill Pay”; a $1.25 fee applies).

As we work toward reopening the Town, the following restrictions remain in effect:

  • Board of Trustees Meetings will be conducted virtually for the public and participants. Conferencing access information is provided in the Trustee agenda - http://buenavistaco.gov/AgendaCenter/.
  • Building permit applications are being accepted by arrangement via email and phone conversations. Certificate of Occupancy inspections will continue by appointment only.

PARK AND FACILITY UPDATES

BV Rec would like to update you on what is open for our citizens to enjoy and what facilities remain closed to protect the overall health of our community. Stay tuned for more updates and additional information.

The following facilities are OPEN* with posted restrictions and guidelines:

  • The Buena Vista Dog Park
  • Pump Track
  • Tennis/Pickleball Courts
  • Skate Park
  • Disc Golf Course
  • Town Trail Systems
  • Splash Park Water Feature
  • Town Fields and General Park Areas
  • Play Structures - Columbine Park, Community Center Park, McPhelemy Park, Millie Crymble Park, Rocks and Ropes Park, South Main Town Square Boulders
  • All Pavilions and Picnic Areas
  • Community Center, Columbine Park, McPhelemy Park, and Splash Park Restrooms
  • Community Center Showers

*Permitted usage in these spaces does not include any activities that would violate the six-foot distance requirements, group gatherings, or activities that would involve the sharing of any equipment.

Buena Vista's in-town open spaces and trails remain open. When outside, remember to always practice physical distancing. Avoid congregating in groups and only recreate with your immediate family or housemates. Expect limited services and bring your own hand sanitizer. Most importantly be safe and have some FUN.
